4) Power Generation Flashcards
Learn Chapter 4
Different forms of energy:
Kinetic: Energy associated with movement
Thermal: Energy contained by a body responsible for its temperature
GPE: Energy possessed by a body based on its height.
Chemical: Energy stored in the bonds of a substance
Sound: Energy possessed by vibrations from a medium.
Electrical: Energy due to electrons
Elastic Pot: Energy stored in a material when deformed (extended spring)
Nuclear: Energy stored in the nucleus of each atom
Radiant: Energy from electromagnetic waves from the sun.
Conservation of energy: Equation and definition
Total Energy In = Total Energy Out
T,in = T,out
‘Energy cannot be formed or destroyed, merely transferred from one form to another’.
