Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
an electronic record of the patient’s health information exists within a single practice, hospital, or health system.

HIPAA (Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)

U.S. law that protects the privacy and security of individuals’ medical information. It governs how healthcare providers, insurers, and certain other entities can collect, store, and share personal health information (PHI).
FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
U.S. law that protects the privacy of students’ education records. It grants parents (or eligible students) the right to access and control the disclosure of educational records maintained by schools receiving federal funding.
HIPAA vs FERPA
The main difference between HIPAA and FERPA lies in the type of information each protects: HIPAA covers medical information, while FERPA protects educational records. Furthermore, HIPAA applies to healthcare entities, whereas FERPA applies to educational institutions.

Telehealth is defined as the use of electronic information and
telecommunication technologies to support long-distance
clinical health care, patient and professional health-related
education, health administration, and public health.

* (1) unrestricted Texas license; or
* (2) Compact Privilege to practice in Texas.
