4) Fingerprint Exam Flashcards
Cyanoacrylate glue fuming (CA): How does it work?
Fumed glue can deposit on all surfaces inside of the chamber. Polymer forms on the fingerprint residue.
Which chemical is used with the 532 nm laser light source in the examination of non-porous substrates such as metal and plastic?
Rhodamine 6G
Which chemical is used with the 450 nm light source in the examination of non-porous substrates such as metal and plastic?
Basic Yellow
Which chemical uses a UV light source in the examination of non-porous substrates such as metal and plastic?
Ardrox
Which chemical is helpful on multicoloured surfaces?
Ardrox
What are some examples of products used to enhance fingerprints on porous products (paper, cardboard)?
1,2-Indanedione
1,8-Diazaflueren-9-one
Ninhydrin
Applying grey powder after CA fuming helps you:
See more continuous detail
A narrowband pass filter helps to:
Further isolate target fluorescence from background
What is sticky side powder?
A powder that has been suspended in a liquid and you can paint them onto your surface
What is tape glo?
Dip into fluorescent liquid called tape flo, rinse it off, and visualize it using the blue light source, and it will adhere to the sticky side and non-sticky side, targeting mainly skin cells
How does the Vacuum Metal Deposition work?
Zinc will evaporate and deposit onto any area that the gold/silver deposited onto. However, where the gold silver was absorbed into the ridges, the zinc now cannot deposit onto that gold/silver; it’s not there, it’s been absorbed. THerefore it deposits only into the furrows (Darker furrows, lighter ridges)
What is the VMD primarily used on?
Aged plastic
What is an example of something current that the GL Scan.could be used for?
Our new polymer bills
