Olfactory; smell
CN II
Vision; biggest CN, nerve crossing at chiasma
CN III
Oculomotor; move eyeball and pupil
CN IV
Trochlear; only nerve to exit brainstem dorsally, motor to 1 extraocular muscle
CN V
Trigeminal; face sensation, motor to muscles of mastication (V3)
CN VI
Abducens; eye movement, motor to 1 extraocular eye muscle, abducts pupiil
CN VII
Facial; muscles of expression, taste, salivation, tears, nasal mucosa secretion (PARASYMP)
CN VIII
Vestibulocochlear; hearing and balance
CN IX
Glossopharyngeal; pharynx sensation, parotid salivation, innervates back of tongue (PARASYMP)
CN X
Vagus; motor to pharynx, larynx, palate, visceral smooth muscle of GI tract; visceral sensation (PARASYMP)
CN XI
Spinal Accessory; motor to neck muscles - leaves SC, goes up foramen magnum then down to trapezius and sternocleidomastoid
CN XII
Hypoglossal; motor to tongue muscles, in line with cervical spinal roots
