Stereotypy
Misdirected Behaviour
Failure in sexual or parental behaviour
Altered levels of activity
What is stereotypy?
Repetitive nature showing no variation
What is misdirected behaviour?
Normal behaviour directed towards themselves, others or their surroundings in an inappropriate way

What can ethograms be used to identify?
Abnormal behaviours and poor living conditions
What does a comparison of ethograms of domesticated animals in natural or semi-natural settings allow?
Hypotheses on behaviour to be formulated
What are two other tests to observe an animal’s welfare?
Preference tests and measures of motivation
What is a preference test?
