how does glucose enter ileum epithelium (to then go into blood stream)
A
- Na+ active transport out of epithelium into blood by sodium potassium pump = concentration gradient more Na+ in lumen than in epithelial cells
- Na+ diffuse from lumen into epithelial via sodium-glucose co-transporter proteins (carries glucose into cell, glucose inside cell increased)
- glucose diffuse out of cell into blood by facilitated diffusion (through protein channel)
