Q

SLA?

A

stereolithography:

  • Generated form liquid form
  • liquid and lazers solidifies than put in UV oven for post curing to make sure it completely solidfies
  • material used: photosensitve monomer
  • applications: jewelary, dental and medical apllications
  • for finely detailed products and smooth surface finish

Q

SLS?

A

Selective laser sintering:

  • generated from solid form
  • solid+lazer⇒melts ⇒molten metal +powder⇒soldifies on powder bed
  • needs post curing
  • material used: plastic powder, metal powder, metal polymer
  • applications: Printed furniture, T-Hawk (micro air vehicles), Prosthetic fairings
  • high mechanical property and smooth surface finish products

Q

BJ?

A

Binder jetting:

  • generated from solid form
  • glue binds powder together
  • materials: Sand, Sandstone, gypsum + Binder material + Infiltrant (post curing)
  • applications: Sand cast molds & cores, Complex low cost models, Full colour models, Custom metallic parts /tools (sintered in a following process)
  • low mechanical properties colourful and large objects
  • for prototypes

Q

FDM?

A

Fused deposition modeling:

  • generated from solid form
  • semi-molten material⇒heated(extrusion)⇒takes shape⇒cools
  • first layer needs cooling fan
  • applications: High performance prototypes, Customized jigs and fixtures Functional parts (Environmental Control Systems ECS Ducts), Concept design
  • surface finish depends on layar thickness
