Q

Explain structural change?

A

As developing economies are going through structural changes and industrilation there are more job opportunities and with greater job opportunities the developing economies are seeing greater GNI levels (rising incomes). With higher wages and incomes, labourers may decide to substitute their work for leisure (positive substitution effect) to have a more work life balance and also becuase they can afford to with the greater incomes.
Though higher wages can lead to a negative income effect as the higher wages means the workers supply their labour less as they can afford to.

Q

Explain the interdependence of labour markets.

A

As many developed and advanced economies have deindustralised and specialised in the teritary sector, it has led to a reliance on the low wage economis where they are going through industralisation still as deindustalisation in developed economies has led to many workers losing their jobs whilst job opportunities being opened up in emerging economies. As a result the developed economies now rely on the workers in the emerging economies who specialise in the manufacturing sector to produce their goods.
