3.4 Flashcards
What is a method to emit electrons?
Heating
Chromel and alumel can be used in thermionic emission
What is the form-of emission referred to when heating to emit electrons?
Thermionic emission
What is the result of light impinging on certain semiconductor materials?
Charge separation.
What is the Piezoelectric effect?
A voltage being generated if a Piezo crystal is deformed by using pressure.
What do 2 bodies of difference charge have?
A voltage between them. (And an electrical field)
What happens between 2 bodies if the electrical field gets too strong?
Electrons move towards the positively charged body.
What do static dischargers do on aircraft?
Discharge the static build up created by friction as it flies through the air.
