Investors lost confidence in New York’s stock exchange and began to sell. This caused a spiral effect.
How did the Wall Street Crash affect Germany?
The US withdrew their loans at short notice which caused the German Economy to crash.
What were the effects on Young People?
more than 50% of those 16-30 were unemployed. If they had a good education it would still have been hard to find work
What were the effects on Factory Workers?
4/10 people couldn’t get a job. Unemployment benefits were reduced which meant that people couldn’t find food to eat.
What were the effects on Farmers?
The price of their goods fell even more which caused them to go into debt. This led to an increase in support for the Nazis.

They struggled as people had less money to spend on goods.

The 2 main parties in coalition fell out. Bruining wanted further cuts to welfare benefits but Muller disagreed so he resigned.
