Why do multicellular organisms require transport systems?
A
- Large size (small surface area to volume ratio, higher metabolic rates.
- Demand for oxygen is higher, so a specialised system is needed to ensure a strong supply to all respiring tissues.

A
- Open= blood can diffuse out of vessels e.g. insects.
- Closed= blood confined to vessels e.g. fish, mammals,

What is tissue fluid?
A
A watery substance containing glucose, amino acids, oxygen and other nutrients. It supplies these to the cells, while also removing any waste material.
