Q

Grounding

A

The process of connecting a charged object to the earth. This allows excess charge to leave an object. Grounding will neutralize a charged object.

Q

Friction

A

Different substances have different affinity for electrons, when rubbed together the greater affinity substance will take electrons away from the other. One object becomes negative and the other gets an equal but opposite charge.

Q

Conduction

A

When two objects with different charges are brought into contact, electrons will flow until a charge balance is reached. They both have the same charge.

Q

Induction

A

The object getting charged will have a charge opposite to that if the charging object.

  1. Bring a charge object close but not touching to a neutral object.
  2. Ground the neutral object.
  3. Remove the ground
  4. Remove the charged object
