POLICY - Handling Juvenile
All juvenile matters shall be handled with tact, consideration and in cooperation with parents or private and public agencies in an effort to prevent delinquency and control juvenile crime.
Juvenile Investigating
1- Truancy
2- Neglect or Aduse
3- Delinquency and absconders from homes and institutions or other incidents.
When there is evidence that a juvenile has violated a regulation or law, or disregarded the rights or safety of others resulting in the loss of property or physical injury, the member shall
1- Obtain the name and address of the juvenile, complainant, and any witnesses
2- Notify the parents or guardian
3- of assigned to patrol district or the special operations division
Child Neglect/ Abuse Cases
1- when investigating cases of reported child neglect or abuse
1- Remain on the scene
2- Notify the young division
3- Secure the crime scene and protect the evidence when applicable
4-maintain the presence of suspect and witnesses

“AT RISK” Child
1- Child is under the age of 13
2- Child is usually small in size or stature or is physically handicapped
3- Child expresses suicidal thoughts or wishes
4- Child report suffering from serious contagious disease
5- Child is visibly pregnant, or Reports that she is more than six months pregnant
6- Child’s apparent sexual orientation would place him or her “at risk”
Child Transportation
Male and female juvenile are not transported in same compartment
The juvenile is not transported with an adult prisoner
Child “At Risk”
Transporting officers shall not remain with child unless the child is violent
