3.03 Flashcards
Capacitance
What is a Charge?
the energy contained by the electron, or the number of electrons at one point with respect to another point
What is the unit of measure of a Charge?
Coulomb and the symbol is Q
Electric Flux lines
they surround all electrically charged bodies and are used to show the force of attraction and/or repulsion between charged bodies. Also they have the same properties as magnetic flux.
If there are more lines of flux then?
There is a stronger electric field
What is Flux Density?
the lines of flux per unit area. Symbol is D
What is the Electric Field Strength(efs)?
Two charged conductive plates
What is Capacitance?
a measure of a capacitors ability to store a charge.
What is the unit of measure for Capacitance?
a Farad. Symbol is C
What is Permittivity?
A measure of the ease which an electric flux field can be established in a material.
Describe Relative Permittivity
ratio of the permittivity of a material to that of free space
