What are the parts of speech? (9 parts)
Define them briefly
Determiners- go with a noun or noun phrase to shape its meaning (the, a, my, many, some, that)
Adjectives- Describe a noun (usually answer the question “which one?” “what kind?”) (green, tall, friendly
Nouns- people, place, things, ideas, or concepts. (Elvis, studio, fame)
Pronouns- stand-in for a noun so you don’t have to keep repeating it (you, them, he, she)
Verbs- indicate an action or state of being (walk, become, assemble)
Adverbs- Describe a verb (usually answer questions “why?” “how?” “where?” “when?”) (quietly, totally, very, too, immediately)
Prepositions- tie nouns and other information in the sentence. (in, on,m by, over, after)

Direction: Look TO the left and you’ll see our destination.
