What is an Ad Group?

A

A group in which consists of one or more ads and a shared set of keywords. These groups are typically based off of themes; product types or services.

What are Keywords?

A

Key words live within your ad groups and allow your ads to be shown when added to the specific ad groups. When one searches for what you offer (search term on google), your ad will appear if those keywords are in the specific ad group.

A

Ads may show on searches that include misspellings, synonyms, related searches, and other relevant variations. So if your keyword is “women’s hats,” someone searching for “buy ladies hat” might see your ad.

A

Exact match allows your ad to show when someone searches the exact form of the exact match keywords.

Ex. [Purple heels]
Will show if someone googles ‘Purple Heels’ but not ‘purple pumps’

Match Types: What is Phrase Match?Give an Example.

A

Ads may show on searches that match a phrase, or are close variations of that phrase, with additional words before or after. Ads won’t show, however, if a word is added to the middle of the phrase, or if words in the phrase are reordered in any way.

Ex: “Tennis Shoes”. Ads will show for:

    • red leather tennis shoes
    • buy tennis shoes on sale
    • red tenis shoes

Match Types: What is Modified Broad Match? Give an Example.

A

Similar to broad match, except that the broad match modifier option only shows ads in searches including the words designated with a plus sign (+women’s hats) or close variations of them.

A

Negative Match will keep your ad from showing for unaffiliated searches.

Ex. If you own a chocolate store & you sell oils. You can add ‘chocolate’ as a negative to make sure your ad won’t show.
