What are composite volcanoes also known as and what does it mean?
Stratovolcanoes because it has a lot of layers
What shape are composite volcanoes and what do they often form?
Cone shaped and often form tall mountains
What happens when composite volcanoes erupt?
The lava is slow and sticky and results in it sticking to the sides of the mountain and building up over time, as the layers of lava and ash cool and build up around the volcano it slowly grows taller
What are some of the most famous composite volcanoes in the world?
Mount Fuji and Mount Hood
What are cinder cone volcanoes also known as and why?
Scoria volcanoes as they are made up of cinders called scoria
What causes cinder cones to have gas bubbles in it?
The magma inside the volcano expanding
What do the gas bubbles cause?
This causes the pressure within the volcano to build up until it explodes

What type of eruption does a cinder cone have?
An explosive one
What type of eruptions do shield volcanoes have and what type of lava does it have?
Non explosive eruptions with thin and runny lava

No it runs to the surrounding environment

In the Hawaiian Islands
