What are head restrains used for?
They reduce the risk of injuries due to collision and sudden vehicle movements.
How should your head restrain be positioned?
It should be positioned so that the centre of the head restraint is level with the top of your ears.
Why should you wear your seatbelt?
It reduces injuries caused by accidents.
Where should you place your hands on the steering wheel?
Left hand at about 9 o’clock and right at about 3 o’clock or 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock
When do you have to use your signal lights?
- moving away from the curb or parking lane
- turning left or right
- changing lanes
How should you accelerate?
Gradually press on the accelerator to move the vehicle and then hold at the proper position for the selected speed.
What is perception time, reaction time and braking time?
Perception time: how long it takes to recognize a situation
Reaction time: how long it takes to respond to the situation
Braking time: how long it takes a vehicle to stop after the takes are applied
How do you brake?
Release pressure on the accelerator before applying the brake to reduce your speed. To finish braking smoothly, release pressure on the pedal before you come to a stop.
What is threshold braking?
Applying the brakes quickly without locking the wheels.
How fast should reversing be?
At a crawl or slow walking speed.
Where should you look when reversing?
Look over your right shoulder through the rear window. Occasionally glance to the front.
Is it illegal to reverse into an intersection or crosswalk?
Yes
What should you do before entering your vehicle?
Walk around to check for children, pedestrians and anything in your vehicles path.
