What is the kinetic theory
Is the theory that
- All matters are made up of very tine particles
- The particles’ arrangements are different at 3 states (solid, liquid, gas).
How do the particles behave when in a solid state according to the kinetic theory?
- They don’t move, just vibrating in place
- Arranged in a lattice shape
- Have a fixed volume and shape
How do the particles behave when in a liquid state according to the kinetic theory?
- Particles can move past each other
- Have a fixed volume but no fixed shape
- Can flow and fill up the container that contains them
How do the particles behave when in a gas state according to the kinetic theory?
- Particles can move freely and are far apart from each other
- No fixed volume, no fixed shape
- Can flow and fill up the container that contains them.
According to the kinetic theory, say out the states in order from lowest energy to highest energy.
Solid, Liquid, Gas.
