Post-op pain (3)
Should be expected (after LA wears off)
Should settle over the next few days
Take painkillers
Post-op pain drug regime (3)
Regular analgesia for 1-3 days
Then use as required
NSAIDs (ibuprofen), acetaminophen (paracetamol)

Hepatic impairment
Renal impairment
Alcohol dependence

Post-op bleeding (5)
Unlikely but possible Do not explore socket Avoid anything that causes an increase in BP Avoid hot/hard foods Avoid alcohol
Post-op bleeding prevention (4)
Avoid rinsing until next day Rinse with warm salt water after that (4x daily) Continue to clean teeth as normal Keep mouth as clean as possible Avoid smoking
If bleeding occurs (3)
Roll up damp tissue/gauze, apply for 20-30mins
If persists, replace and repeat
If continues, seek dentist/A&E
Other expected symptoms
Adjacent tooth sensitivity
Pain and stiffness associated with TMJ/muscles of mastication
Swelling (some more than others, more common in surgical procedures)
Bruising (some more than others)
Antiseptic mouthwash advice (3)
Capful 2-3x daily
Not straight after tooth brushing
If nippy, dilute with some water
