Q

Low speed caution light (red, red, small yellow) can apply when?

A

See photo below.
Also on test low speed caution signal can never be used for train movements into a bi directional portion of track. Also the low speed caution is not affected by the track circuit therefore enabling a second train to enter the already occupied section.

21
Q

Three position signal sequences

A

Signals can only get better not worse. See photo

22
Q

What does it mean when a three position signal has an illuminated 65 or 80 figures?

A

This indicates to the driver that the points ahead are high speed points ( train can go quicker bc points are newer) instead of the normal 40kmp enabling them to be traversed at a higher speed.

23
Q

Clear medium speed ( red over green aspects) with an illuminated 65 or 80 sign. What is the Ptsn?

24
Q

Red Illuminated Letter “A” On a Three Position Home Signal. Why are they displayed?

A

Illuminated Letter “A” lights are displayed as an additional light, attached to a Home Signal.
The Illuminated Letter “A” will only display when the signal displays a Stop aspect.
An Illuminated Letter “A” light informs the Driver.
• •
The points for the Home signal that it is attached to are set for the mainline That the signal is now operating in automatic mode (via the passage of trains)
The rules that apply with regards to passing it at the Stop position are now the same as an automatic signal.
This occurs at locations that may have stabling sidings, or where trains may terminate.
At these locations, it is only necessary for a Signaller to be present if a train is going in or out of service or required to terminate. It lets you know the signaller that controls this signal is not present. You need to call area controller for permission to pass stop
