3 - Normal Operating Procedures Flashcards
What are you allowed to carry in an unoccupied rear cockpit seat?
Aircrew flight equipment, others must be in approved cargo carrier
Can you place anything under the ejection seats?
No
What can only be carried in the WSSP? 2 items, mechanical in nature
Oil, hydraulic fluid
What is normal recovery fuel? Definition and amount
Fuel required at initial or FaF, 800# or what is established locally (higher of them)
What are minimum and emergency fuels?
600, 400
What is the minimum interval for taxi?
150 ft staggered, 300 ft in trail (taxiway lights spaced 75 feet)
Can be reduced when holding short of or entering runway. Use caution for jet blast with open canopies.
Explain restrictions for taxi during ice/snow conditions
Do not taxi in ice or snow conditions until all portions of route have been checked for safety. Taxi on the centerline with 300 ft spacing
What must solo students do in regard to pins?
Be stopped when removing/installing pins
If not in formation, inform the controlling agency that the seat is armed prior to being cleared for takeoff
If formation Takeoff is planned, wingmen must maintain _______ clearance with their element leader
Wingtip
Trailing elements will ______ if pilots cannot ensure wingtip clearance.
Delay running up engines
Wingmen will be placed upwind if XW>____ kts
5
Do not take off if: (4 things)
RCR <10
Takeoff roll > 80% runway (single or interval)
Takeoff roll > 70% runway (formation)
Instrument hood is in place
Minimum runway length?
8000 ft (7000 ft waiver from OG/CC)
What power setting must be used on all takeoffs?
Afterburner
Formation takeoff reqs
- elements of 2 aircraft max
- runway width> 150 ft
- standing water, ice, slush, or snow is on the runway
- > 15 kts XW
- ferry from maintenance facility
Interval times between elements
10 seconds min
20 sec min if join up will be accomplished on top
Min weather for join up under a ceiling
1500/3
Flight leads will maintain ___ kts until join up unless mission reqs dictate otherwise
300
Max bank angle for turning rejoin
30
4-ship rejoin procedures
2 joins left, element joins right
Turning: 2 inside, element outside
Wingtip clearance for engine run up with a solo
50 feet
Altitude/airspace Limits for aerobatic maneuvering
5000 AGL, special use airspace must be used
Jet wash limits
Avoid at all costs. If unavoidable, unload to 1G and assume all G’s are asymmetric
Flaps for maneuvers?
Only use flaps if specifically instructed to during the maneuver
Can you use cross feed or differential throttles to increase performance?
No
Minimum airspeed
150 kts unless maneuver specifically requires lower for training
Training rules for slow flight / stalls
8000 AGL min
FL 200 max
80% RPM max
Training rules for ACBT and aerobatic maneuvers
5000 AGL min for ACBT
8000 AGL otherwise
Training rules for practice NH recoveries or instrument unusual attitudes
FL 240 max
VMC
Considerations for flight above FL 350
No formation
Use min Mach number from -1
No flight above FL 390 except emergencies
Prohibited maneuvers
- Practice no-flap patterns/landings with > 2500# fuel
- Practice single-engine circling approaches or overhead patterns (don’t pull one engine until on final)
- Practice no-flap full stops
- Practice minimum roll landings
- Practice inflight engine shutdowns other than FCF
- Formation touch-and-go’s
- Closed and low-closed patterns immediately after takeoff
