What is Rekognition?
A manages service for the analysis of images and videos.
It used pre-trained models for tasks such as image moderation, celebrity recognition, text identification etc.
What is Polly?
A text-to-speech service that supports streaming and stored audio
Pronunciations can be customised with custom lexicons and SSML
Speech Marks synchronise the text to speech
What is Transcribe?
A speech recognition service supporting streaming and pre-recorded audio
It has a range of language options (including auto) and allows custom terminology to be specified
What is Translate?
A service to translate text between languages
What is Comprehend?
A service to understand text i.e. recognise topics, perform sentiment analysis and identify named entities
Custom classification allows you to provide the training date (n.b. classification is done at the document level)
What is Lex?
A service to build conversational interfaces using either text or audio
It waits to hear intents; slots are variables in utterances i.e. what the user wants to do
How should managed ML services be used together?
With service chaining in which Step Functions are used to orchestrate the tasks asynchronously
