3. Fossil fuels Flashcards
Name 3 types of fossil fuels
Coal, oil, and gas.
How is coal formed?
The result of mud using pressure and heat to squash dead plants and trees, preventing them to rot, which forms coal.
How is oil formed?
Extreme heat and pressure from layers of limestones forces the remains of dead sea creatures into crude oil.
How is gas formed?
The same process as oil only with more heat and pressure which boils the oil into gas.
What does the pH scale range from and what part is acid, neutral, and base?
0-6 is acid, 7 is neutral, and 8-14 is base.
If an anonymous substance’s colour is tested yellow, then is the substance acid, base, or neutral?
weak acid
If an anonymous substance’s colour is tested purple, then is the substance acid, base, or neutral?
strong base
If an anonymous substance’s colour is tested green, then is the substance acid, base, or neutral?
Neutral
