3: Distribution Flashcards

1
Q

What does drug distribution entail?

A

Distribution is the (reversible) movement of drug
from the systemic circulation to the cells and interstitium of tissues.

When you take a drug, it must first get delivered to the target site by absorption and distribution. The first stage is to get it into the systemic circulation (absorption).

To reach the site of action, the drug must leave the circulation and enter tissues. This process is called distribution.
