What is the main role of a terminal controller?
Seperate:
1. IFR from IFR Aircraft
2. IFR from VFR Aircraft
3. VFR from VFR Aircraft - Workload permiting
What airspace is a terminal controller responsible for?
- Vertical airspace from the surface up to FL230
- Horizontal airspace within 26 miles around busiest airports
What services are provided to Departing and Arriving aircraft?
Arrival and departure controllers expedite the flow of IFR aircraft that are Inbound or Outbound.
What are Terminal Surveillance Controllers responsible for?
They control both arriving and departing VFR Aircraft and transiting VFR aircraft through the Terminal Control Zone.
What is the main role of an enroute controller?
Seperate:
1. IFR from IFR aircraft

What is and RAAS and who provides it?
Remote Airport Advisory Service and is provided by a Flight Service Specialist.
What is an Advisory Service?
Refers to the provision of information essential for the safe and efficent movement of arriving and departing aircraft.
What does an Airport Advisor Service (AAS) include:
Local information on weather and traffic, runway conditions, wind and altimeter. AAS is provided by Flight Service Specialists.
What is an Apron Advisory Service?
- Assign Gates 2. Issue Pushback Instructions
- Provide advisory information on other aircraft and vehicles on the apron.
Ground Controllersare responsible for:
- Services normally performed by clearance delivery
- Issue airport information to aircraft
- Issue Taxi Authorizations to aircraft
- Issue authorizations for vehicle movements
- Coordinate with tower controllers
Tower controllers issue take-off/landing clearances, Pass Traffic as well as:
- Aircraft Seperation 2. Coordinate with Ground Controller and the ACC Controller 3. Provide Information Services 4. Provide Alerting Services.
