what are the two preferred methods of IFR departures for USAF pilots
Standard instrument Departures (SID)
Obstacle departure procedures(ODP)
(these are preferred because they are published)
How will you know if an airport has a published departure
- an airports SID are located after the airport’s approaches in the terminal booklets.
- odps are identified by a “trouble t” on approach plates.
- look at the terminal booklet’s table of contents.
- flight planning software may suggest a published departure
on any ifr departure, unless published otherwise, at what altitude is the pilot permitted to make the first turn on the departure
400’ agl abovce the DER, and past the departure end of the runway if it is visible
what is the minimum climb gradient on any IFR departure
200 feet per NM
you are flying a SID and the controller assigns you a different altitude than specified on the departure. what are you expected to do
fly the SID routing and comply with the ATC assigned altitude
you are flying a SID and the controller assigns you a heading to fly. what are you expected to do?
fly the heading and consider the SID cancelled unless told to “expect to resume the SID”
