3:1 property of parallel lines Flashcards
transversal
is a line that intersects two co planar lines at two distinct points.
alternate interior angles
angles on opposite sides of the transversal and inside the parallel lines.
same side interior angles
two angles that are on the interior of (between) the two lines and specifically on the same side of the transversal.
corresponding angles
the angles which occupy the same relative position at each intersection where a straight line crosses two others. If the two lines are parallel, the corresponding angles are equal.
two column proof
has exactly two columns. One column represents our statements or conclusions and the other lists our reasons.
alternate exterior angles
the pair of angles on the outer side of the two parallel lines but on the opposite side of the transversal.
same side exterior angles
Two angles that are exterior to the parallel lines and on the same side of the transversal line
Flow Proof
arrows show the logical connections between the statements
obtuse triangle
a triangle in which one of the interior angles measures more than 90° degrees
equilateral triangle
isosceles triangle
acute triangle
remote interior angles
scalene triangle
exterior angle of a polygon
