2nd Year Flashcards
What is a break line used for
Allows a piece to be shortened eg. A 36” shaft can be drawn 2” long
What is a working drawing
This will give enough info to assemble or manufacture a piece
What are the 2 types of auxiliary views
Primary
Secondary
What is a bill of material
This gives information to produce or assemble 1 part
Eg. # of bolts, part# of the bolt, bolt description etc
What is the purpose of an auxiliary view
It shows the true shape of the item, a slope or an inclined surface and the correct location of features.
What is the purpose of the secondary auxiliary view
Not all aux views can be projected from one of the main views as they would show it distorted so the 2aux view will show the true shape projected off the primary aux view
What does an isometric axis do
They are the basic line directions that correspond to the 3 views of an orthographic drawing.
