The Union came out and completed the Anaconda Plan as outlined. It was finalized with the Sherman’s March to Sea and Grant’s method to destroy anything in the way and take back Richmond. The Union was preserved.
What was meant by the term “Reconstruction” following the Civil War?
A time of rebuilding for the South had faced major devastation following the Civil War
What was so difficult about life for homesteaders in the nineteenth century?
Everything! Nothing was easily available. They had to make everything themselves (from scratch). They were their own doctors, teachers, carpenters, pharmacy’s etc. They had very little in material goods while living in very primitive conditions. They had little contact with other people outside of their family.
