2ND QUARTER Flashcards
This pertains to the maximum amount of solute dissolved in a given amount of solvent at a specific temperature and pressure.
Solubility
A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances.
Solution
what are the two components of solution
Solute
Solvent
the one that is being dissolved
Solute
the dissolving medium
Solvent
There are three types of solution saturation:
Saturated,
Unsaturated
Supersaturated
this is when the maximum amount of solute is dissolved in a given amount of solvent
Satured
this are those that contain less than the maximum amount of solute that can dissolve in a given amount of solvent.
Unsatured
this is where there is more solute than a solvent can hold.
Supersatured
which one substance is dissolved in another.
mixture
A substance that can be dissolved by a solvent to create a solution.
Solute
A substance that dissolves a solute, resulting in a solution.
Solvent
Amount of solute is very high.
Concentrated
Amount of solute is low.
Diluted
Filled to the point that nothing more can be added.
Saturated
