She asked France to send her army in order to stop a rebellion in Fez (Moroccan capital)
What did Germany do?
She sent a gunboat to Agadir, with the interest of protecting their trade
What was Britain’s reaction to Germany’s actions?
Britain saw the gunboat as warlike act, they presumed Germany was building up its navy to challenge its base at Gibraltar
How did France manage to get Germany to allow it to take control of Morocco?
France offered Germany compensation
What compensation did France offer Germany?
Two marshy strips of land in Congo
This was very humiliating, but Germany still accepted
Why was the Agadir crisis so dangerous?
It brought Europe closer to war and the alliances closer together
Germany was unlikely to back down and be humiliated again

They didn’t trust Germany
