When is someone with intermittent claudication DQ?
sx with rest pain or other disqualifications

3 months post- surgery
When can you certify a patient with intermittent claudication ?
3 months post surgery with relief of sx and no disqualifying CV disease
What is the max cert of intermittent claudication?
1 year
How can you certify a pt post-CABG?
- 3 months post-CABG
- LVEF >40% post CABG
- cardiologist approval
- Asx
- medication tolerance
- Annual ETT after 5 years
How long do you certify post-CABG?
1 year
What are the initial pulmonary function tests?
FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC
What is the next test if the FEV1 is <65% prediction or the FEV1/FVC ratio is <65%
Screening pulse ox and/or ABG
If the screening O2 is less than 92%?
Get ABG - if the ABG PaO2 is <65 @ 5000ft or 60 @ >5000 ft - you do not certify the. Do not certify for a PaCO2 >45 mm HG either.
Can you certify a driver with pulmonary HTN?
Yes if she has pulmonologist clearance and none to he following
- rest dyspnea
- Dizziness
- Hypotension
- PaO2 <65 mmHG
Pulmonary HTN max certification
1 year
Severe TBI defines as
Penetrates the dura and cause LOC >24 hrs
- Surgical procedures involving dural penetration are similar seizure risk as severe TBI and should not be certified
Moderate TB defined as
no penetration of dura and LOC >30 minutes <24 hrs
Mild TBI defined as
No penetration of dura and LOC of 30 minutes
Waiting periods for TBI
2 years can be the following
2 year waiting period
- Mod TBI w/out early seizures
- Mild TBI with early seizures
- Must be seizure free for 2 years
- And off anticonvulsants
- Max cert is 1 year
