Q

Oxidising and reducing flame

A

> oxidizing flame is the flame produced with an excessive amount of oxygen. When the amount of oxygen increases, the flame shortens, its color darkens, and it hisses and roars
reducing flame : low oxygen. It has a yellow or yellowish color due to carbon or hydrocarbons which bind with (or reduce) the oxygen contained in the materials processed with the flame. The reducing flame is also called the carburizing flame, since it tends to introduce carbon into the molten metal.

Q

Saurer Aufschluss:
Was?
Warum?
Wie?

A

Fe2O3 + KHSO4–> Fe2(SO4)3 + K2SO4+ H2O
Occurring rxn:2KHSO4—> K2S2O7+H2O
Hoher als 250 ::: K2S2O7–> K2SO4+SO3(unerwunscht)
