- understanding that others have different perspectives to your own
Examples of emotional development

- Recognising your own emotions
- Understanding how others around you feel.
Nature
compare physical and phycological development
Nature states that the Genes we inherit from our parents influence
many aspects of our physical development
what genes do we inherit from parents that impacts out physical development e blood type, eye and hair colour, body shape, likeliness of developing certain illnesses and disorders.
e blood type, eye and hair colour, body shape, likeliness of developing certain illnesses and disorders.
Nature is influenced by
genetic predisposition; the increased likelihood to develop certain traits, including diseases if certain conditions are met
What does nature believe about personality, intelliegnece and interested
personality, intelligence and interseted are predetermined at birth
Nurture
Refers to environmental factors that influence development and arise from an individual’s physical and social surroundings.
Examples of nurture
E.g. food, education, exposure to pollutants, socioeconomic status, culture, social groups, early childhood experiences.
What does nurture believe
Belief that education, social groups, jobs, surroundings, socioeconomic status contribute to development
what does research prove about the nature vs nurture debate
both hereditary and environmental factors interact to shape human development.
how have psychologists been able to gain a better understanding of which psychological characteristics are more likely to be influenced by environmental factors.
They do this by comparing twins, given their identical (or half identical) genetic makeup.
Psychologists also use information from research with children who have been adopted, and therefore have no genetic similarity to their adoptive parents.
Compare w similarites between children and their adoptive parents would suggest vs simialrites between children and biological parents
Similarities between children and their adoptive parents would suggest environmental influence is greater, whereas similarities between adopted children and their biological parents would indicate inherited influence is greater.
biopsychosocial approach
systematically considers biological, psychological, and social factors and their complex interactions in understanding health, illness, and health care delivery
nature vs nurture define
Nature versus nurture is a long-standing debate in biology and society on whether human beings are influenced by genetic inheritance or the environmental conditions of their development.
how does nature vs nurture interact
nature vs nurture both affects behaviour and personalities and are partners in how developing people interact with surrounding environments
