1st Amendment
Right to religion, assembly, petition, press, and speech
2nd Amendment
Right to bear arms
3rd Amendment
Quartering of soldiers. They cannot force you to let them live in your home.
4th Amendment
No searches without a warrant or probable cause
5th amendment
You have the right to remain silent. You also cannot be tried for the same crime (same case) twice - “double jeopardy”
6th Amendment
The right to a fair and speedy trial I’m criminal cases, as well as the right to an attorney
7th amendment
The right to a fair jury in civil cases
8th amendment
No cruel and unusual punishments, and no excessive bails
9th amendment
Not all rights of the people are listed in the constitution
10th amendment
Rights not held by the federal government are given to the states.
11th amendment
You cannot sue a state in which you do not live in
12th amendment
President and vice-president can run for office together. Prior to this amendment, the Vice President was always the presidential candidate with the second most votes, but amendment 12 changed that.
13th amendment
Abolition of slavery and forced servitude unless for the punishment of a crime.
14th amendment
All people born in the U.S. are citizens, and all citizens (even those who are naturalized) have equal protection under the laws
15th amendment
Citizens have the right to vote regardless of race
