What does stage 1 involve?
Stage 1 - Collecting
- This is where you collect information from different sources such as customers or employees.
- You can gain this kind of information either by interviewing someone or giving them a questionnaire to fill out.
Why is stage 1 important?
- Able to gain information about customers and employees. This will help them have a better understanding about the people they are selling to and the type of people they have working for them.
- Also, businesses can see any improvements that need to be made to something such as working conditions.
What does stage 2 involve?
Stage 2 - Storage
- Information collected in the 1st stage has to be stored away.
- Info can be stored in various ways such as hard drives, on servers or USB’s.
Why is stage 2 important?
- If the information is not saved, they will not be able to retrieve the information ever again. So, if you have saved it and the information gets lost, at least you have a backup and it wont cost the business any extra money.
What does stage 3 involve?
Stage 3 - Retrieving
- Where you can call up specific information when you need it.
- Example a business could use queries to find information that is relevant for the certain situation they are in.
Why is stage 3 important?
- As specific information can be retrieved and accessed whatever the time.
- Also, people working in the business save time as queries don’t take that long.
What does stage 4 involve?
Stage 4 - Manipulating/Processing
- Information that has been collected and stored is organised so that it is easier for the business to understand.
- Example: this could be either by producing graphs or presenting the information in a table.
Why is stage 4 important?
- The workers can work more efficiently if the information is easy to understand and organised.
What does stage 5 involve?
Stage 5 - Analysing
- The information goes under review and gets interpret. - The reason they do this is so that they can identify any trends and patterns in the information that they have collected.
Why is stage 5 important?
- Analysing the information can improve the efficiency of the business and how fast the employees work.
What does stage 6 involve?
Stage 6 - Security
- Information that has been collected, is protected and held by the business.
- Protection methods that can be used: usernames and passwords, permissions and physical locks.
Why is stage 6 important?
- Makes sure people cant access the information without the authority to do so.
What does stage 7 involve?
Stage 7 - Transmitting/Communicating
- The business communicates information to customers.
- Can be done through a variety of methods, such as sending out e-mails, or posting letters to their customers.
Why is stage 7 important?
- It keeps customers up to date and builds a relationship between the business and their customers
