Quality
A product or service which meets the standards set by customers, in other words it is fit for purpose
Advantages of Quality Product
Can charge premium price, strengthens brand and can give USP.
Quality Control
The product is tested for quality at the end of the production process. IF the product didn’t meet a certain standard, it would be reworked or thrown away.
Advantages of Quality Control
Quicker method of achieving quality, lower staff costs as they don’t need training to check product along production process.
Disadvantages of Quality Control
Too late to correct errors, products have to be destroyed, increased unit costs.
Quality Assurance
Every employee that is involved in the production process is responsible for the quality of the product.
Advantages of Quality Assurance
Leads to zero defects, less waste and employees feel more involved
Disadvantages of Quality Assurance
More time consuming, higher staff costs as they need training to check products
