A thin covering made up of cells that protect the root tip of a plant as it grows into the soil
Root Cap
Any of the threadlike projections from a plant root that absorbs water and dissolved minerals from the soil.
Root Hair

The layer of tissue just inside the epidermis of a plants’s roots and stems.

The tissue through which water and minerals move up through a plant.

The layer in plants that separates the xylem from the phloem.

The loss of water through plants leaves.
Transpiration
The food making process in green plants that uses sunlight.
Photosynthesis
The release of energy in plants and animals from food (sugar).
Respiration
What a living thing does as a result of a stimulus.
Response
Something in the environment that causes a living thing to react.
Stimulius
A response of a plant towards or away from a stimulus.
Tropism
A characteristic that enables a living thing to survive in its environment.
