What is a map key

A

Key helps make sense of the map. If there are colors/shades, the key will tell you what they mean.

What’s the difference between a map scale and a map compass? 

A

A compass will help you show you what direction is north east south and west.
A map scale will help you determine distance. If you take a ruler and measure how long that line is on the map, then you can use that ruler measurement to determine how far apart places are on the map.

A

Road maps show major highways, roads airport, railroad track, cities, and other points of interest in an area.

What do topographic show? 

A

Topographic maps are similar to physical maps in that they show the geographical features of an area, however topographic maps focus on a much smaller area with more detail. Lines on a topographic map that are close together show steep terrain.
