2.2.2 Coaxial Cable Facts Flashcards

1
Q

Coaxial Cable Components

A
  • Two concentric metallic conductors
    • inner conductors is solid wire made of copper or copper-coated tin.
    • outer mesh conductor, or shield is made of aluminum or tin-coated copper.
  • An PVC plastic insulator, which is surrounds the inner conductor and insulates the signal from the mesh conductor
  • A PVC plastic cable sheath, or jacket that surrounds and protects the wire
