Describe the difference between psychology, psychiatry and social work in terms of the path to get there.

Psychology: Minimum of 4 years of study with an additional 2 years of supervisioin under a qualified psychologist or higher degree in psychology.
Psychiatry: Completes a 6 year medical degree, and works as an intern in a hospital setting for two years. Additionally, they undertake specialist training in psychiatry whilst supervised for 5 years.
Social Work: Completes a Bachelor of Social Work degree or Master of Social Work.

Describe the difference between psychology, psychiatry and social work in terms of what they do.

Psychologist: Studies the mind and human behaviour.
Psychiatrist: Specialises in mental illnesses and can perscribe medication and perform medical proceedures.
Social Work: Work within a community to help people cope with problems related to poverty, legal issues, mental health or human rights.
