Physical Address
Media access control (MAC), or burned-in address (BIA) or hardware address. A unique 48-bit identifier assigned to the network interface controller (NIC)
Logical Address
IP addresses used to route traffic from one network to another.
Virtual Address
Network Address Translation (NAT) virtualizes IP addresses by mapping private, non-routable IP addresses that are assigned to internal network devices to public IP.
Hexadecimal
Base 16 numbering system. (0-9, and A-F)
Loopback address
127.0.0.1 - 127.255.255.255
Class A address
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
Class B address
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
Class C address
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
Classless inter-domain routing (CIDR)
Allocates address space on any address bit boundary, know as variable-length subnet masking, or VLSM
