“Form follows function”
James Dyson
He is a British design engineer who has developed a wide range of highly successful household products. His development of hair dryers, hand dryers as well as vacuum cleaners.
With the Dyson vacuum cleaner DC01, he introduces the first bagless cleaner, which uses technology like dust extraction systems to separate the collection of particles and clean air.
Key aspects of this cleaner:
The 3D form of the product is produced largely of injection moulding
Many features which make the disassembly of the product easy
Margaret Calvert
She is a highly influential graphic designer who working with jock kinneir, developed the transport font as well many many standard pictures on uk signs. They developed a silhouette for many signs as well as it being simple and a clear communication with motorists by using a mix of lower case and upper case road signs. They tested this by checking if motorists could read the signs at different speeds
Charles and ray eames
They were famous for their work on moulded furniture both in plywood and polymers.
Post modernism
This is seen as a counter rebellion against the simplicity of form and purely functional nature of modernism.
