the screen to related information and graphics,
typically accessed by a point-and-click method.
Hypertext
A telephone with access to cellular
radio system for use over a wide area without a
physical connection to a network.
Mobile Phone
Side by side: at the same rate or on an
equal footing.
Pari Passu
Websites and applications that
enable users to create and share content or
participate in social networking.
Social Media
A free social networking microblogging
service that allows registered members to
broadcast short posts called tweets.
Existing or being everywhere, especially
at the same time.
Ubiquitous
Exploration of self in the context of
globalization, cultural intersections, and
discussions of women’s and LGBT rights.
Identity
Examination of
multiplicities of truth and acknowledgment
of the subjective nature of history.
History and Memory
Integration of technology into
human lives and its impact on humanity’s
future, explored in literature.
Technology
Acknowledgment,
reference, or parallel inclusion of other works
within contemporary literature, often in a
postmodern style.
Intertextuality
A Late Latin prefix used to denote English,
derived from Anglia, the Latin name for England.
Anglo
Relating to or denoting the
Germanic inhabitants of England from their arrival in
the 5th century up to the Norman Conquest.
Anglo-Saxon
The process of breaking a complex topic
or substance into smaller parts to understand it
better.
Analysis
Encompasses literature from Asian
countries, written by Asian authors.
Asian Literature
focuses on the
perspective of Asian-Americans, telling their stories
and exploring their lives and history.
Asian-American Literature
Includes literature from
countries previously colonized by the British Empire,
such as India, Hong Kong, etc.
Post-Colonial Literature
● A noted Marathi poet, literary critic, writer,
and translator.
● Born on August 23, 1918, in Devgad Taluka
of Sindhudurg District.
● Overcame financial challenges to
complete education and became a
professor in Mumbai.
● Influenced by works of Browning, Elliot, and
Hopkins.
Govind Vinayak Karandikar
Literature related to the
Angles, England, the English people, or the English
language. Noted strengths in the 17th century
onward, with significant holdings in the 18th
century, Romanticism, Victorian, and modern
periods

Canadian parents.
● Grew up in various countries due to his
parents’ involvement in the Canadian
Foreign Service.

Polish, German. It is part of the common
cultural heritage of Europe.
European Literature

born in 1886, known for works reflecting on
his time as a pathologist. One of his poems,

Gottfried Benn
A prolific Mexican
writer born in 1954, known for works that
portray Latino and gay identity, mythology,
and Mesoamerican history. The poem “To
Those Who Have Lost Everything” is included
in the module.
Francisco X. Alarcon
comprising oral and written works in various
languages and genres. It includes themes
such as the clash between indigenous and
colonial cultures, condemnation of European subjugation, pride in the African
past, and hope for the continent’s
independent future.

Fiction emphasizes the development of a
complete plot, including a beginning,
middle, and ending
Complete Plot
The hallmark of successful
Flash Fiction is a twist at the end, providing
readers with unexpected conclusions.
Surprising Ending
or graphic fiction, is a narrative form
equivalent in form and dimension to a prose
novel. It utilizes a comic book format where
pictures are arranged in sequences with
image panels, and dialogues are written in
speech bubbles.
Graphic Novel
encompasses the
genres of science fiction, fantasy, and
horror. These genres transport readers out of
ordinary lives, immersing them in different
realities
Speculative Fiction
A potent green aniseed-flavored
alcoholic spirit, made with the shrub
wormwood.
Absinthe
The activity of hunting with ferrets,
typically for rabbits.
Ferreting
An evil spirit or phantom, especially
one supposed to rob graves and feed on
dead bodies.
Ghoul
requiring considerable effort and time.

A rope with a noose at one end,
used primarily in North America for catching
cattle or horses.
