Mining- many minerals only come in small quantities. Rocks can release radioactivity. (Tailing) most use a lot of water
Power generation- can be from burning fossil fuels and coal which can lead to emissions and hot water. Can lead to noise produced green house gases> acid rain. Nuclear power stations can leak radioactive material which can kill plants and people. Disposal is hard because it has to wait thousands of years before it is safe

A

Chemical processing- chemicals used to make majority of synthetic materials but can be harmful is not used properly or abused.
Eg refineries release pollutants which can cause cancer and health problems
Some chemical processing releases VOCs like ethylene which reacts with oxygen and nitrogen oxide and can cause asthma or infections

Might encourage business to produce ways to help with the environment such as recycling bags.
They might grant it to companies who give positive externalities.
