2.1 Neurotransmission Flashcards
1
Q
How is the axon initial segment (AIS) structurized?
A
it has:
Ankyrin-G which anchors gated channels to microtubules (cytoskeleton)
Spectrin which anchors ankyrin to actin rings (cytoskeleton)
2
Q
In the PNS which cell makes Gliomedin and what does it do?
A
Schwann cells during myelination secrete Gliomedin which adheres Nav and Kv channels in the nodes of ranvier
3
Q
what is the difference between passive responses and active responses
A
active - action potientail (doesnt dissipaate)
passive - graded potentails that can dissipate
4
Q
there are so many purkinje cells in the cerebellum, how do the graded potentials last so long?
A
they are made thicker
