Q

What are organic molecules?

A

Molecules or compounds containing carbon, although there are exceptions such as CO2 and carbonates (calcium carbonates). Another criteria for organic molecules are that they need to have C-H bonds.

Q

What is glycogen composed of?

A

many long chains of glucose units. Glycogen is found in liver and muscle cells and broken down when we need more glucose for glycolysis!

17
Q

Draw an amino acid.

A

:D great!

18
Q

Which two groups are involved in a condensation reaction to form a dipeptide?

A

The carboxyl group of one amino acid and the amino group of an adjacent one. H2O is eliminated as a result.

19
Q

Glucose + Glucose + Glucose ……. —> ? in plants

Glucose + Glucose + Glucose ……. —> ? in animals

A

Starch in plants
Glycogen in animals
Both involve the elimination of H2O

20
Q

What type of bonding occurs between two glucose units?

A

Glycosidic

21
Q

What type of bonding occurs WITHIN a water molecule?

A

Covalent

22
Q

What type of bonding occurs BETWEEN water molecules?

A

Hydrogen

23
Q

What type of bonding occurs between two amino acids?

A

Peptide bonding
