Gross Domestic
Product (GDP)
The total value of goods and services a country produces in a year. It’s often given in US$
GDP per capita
The GDP divided by the population of a country. It’s often given in US$ and is sometimes called GDP per head.
Gross National Income (GNI) and GNI per capita
The total value of goods and services produced by a country in a year, including income from overseas. It’s often given in US$, GNi per capita is the GNI divided by the population of a country.
Birth rate
The number of live babies born per thousand of the population per vear.
Death rate
The number of deaths per thousand of the population per year.
Fertility rate
The average number of births per woman.
Infant mortality rate
The number of babies who die under 1 year old, per thousand babies born.
Maternal mortality rate
The number of women who die due to pregnancy related problems per hundred thousand live births.
Doctors per 1000 of population
The number of workin doctors per thousand of the population.
Gini coetticient
The number of workin doctors per thousand of the population.
Gender Inequality Index
A measure of economic inequality. Countries are given a score between O (equal) and 1 (total inequalitu).
Human Development Index (HDU)
A number that’s calculated using data on e.g. women’s education, access to job, political right and health during pregnancy. The higher the score, the more inequality.
Corruption Perceptions
A measure of the level of corruption that is believed to exist in the public sector on a scale of 1-100. The lower the score, the more corrubtion.
