Anodizing is an electrolytic process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts by passing a current through it.

A heat treatment process in which iron or steel absorbs carbon while the metal is heated in the presence of a carbon-bearing material. The intent is to make the metal harder.
